A quick pop into this store allowed us to purchase some rather yummy food.
The price wasn't to bad and would def recommend this place -

I keep forgetting that the Grocer On Elgin is more than a shop, I've never actually even had a coffee here. But I've had a lot of tasty sandwiches and salads, and I love their breads. They often win against Mr Christian's across the road simply for keeping their doors open later.
I remember venturing to the back of the shop when it first opened ages but it somehow doesn't appeal to me, all a bit too dark - and rather deserted during the week; I am sure they are buzzing with tourists at weekends. So I stick to the front and lunchtime treats to take away.
It's all a bit on the dear side, definitely catering for the yummy mummy fraction in the neighbourhood. -

I think all these 'The Grocer...' feel pretty much the same. They seem to stock the same products and the food always looks and tastes great. Last time I was in this particular Grocer I took the bold step of going for the pizza instead of the chicken and roasted vegetable sandwich I usually go for. It was the artichoke one and was really good, got better as you went along actually especially the thicker, cheesier bit in the middle.
They also have loads of chilled options for expensive but ultra convenient and ultra cool prepare at home stuff. The fruits in compote and the like are great as are the pasta options. I'm not a huge fan of sweet stuff but they also specialise in some amazing looking cakes, meringues and biscuits. If that's your bag head down to Elgin and get a selection put in one immediately. -

For pre made food you can't beat this place. Everything is delicious. From sheperd's pie to soup to mac and cheese, roasted vegetables, and so many other yummy things. Some items that are traditionally child-friendly (mac and cheese and sheperds pie), are a bit too spicy for little ones. But the big children (meaning the adults!) will love everything.

It's a shame The Grocer on Elgin isn't cheaper - I'd be in there every day picking out what to "make" for dinner (the reheatable packaged meals are boldly flavoured - in any cuisine - and delicious). Instead, I usually pop in for a completely gratuitous treat along the lines of a pain au chocolat or a meringue the size of my head.
It's a pleasure just to wander about the shop - the sleek black and wood interior with shelves full of mouthwatering delicacies is beautiful.
They also recently added a little restaurant downstairs which serves pretty decent brunch-y food but lacks any atmosphere (white basement, no windows).
